Thursday 1st April 2021

After our recent survey the overwhelming response from Club members was they’d like to restart playing as soon as possible. To that end we’re going to restart Cubs, Juniors and Badgers training from Sunday 4th April and Seniors training sessions from Tuesday 6th April. Spond invites to follow, please complete them in the usual way.

Our Club Committee will meet on April 19th where we’re going to plan what we can do for the rest of the Summer and to try and sort out proposals for our finances – specifically how to address who paid what in the disrupted 20/21 Covid season and how we take this forward into membership costs for 21/22. You’ll appreciate this might get a bit tricky. As an added complication TDMS have increased pitch hire costs by 15%.

As such the first training sessions before our Committee meeting on April 19th will be included in your membership for 20/21 if you paid them. If you didn’t they’ll be £4 per session. Any sessions after April 19th will be £4 per session as we’ll classify these as extra to the season and sort out the 20/21 situation in the cost of 21/22 membership. Sorry that sounds confusing. Questions welcome.

Stay safe everyone and look forward to seeing you soon.

England Hockey have today confirmed that hockey can restart from March 29th 2021. Details from England Hockey of the Return to Play guidance can be read here

We now ask Club members to complete this sort survey to help us understand your appetite for returning to hockey, what you’d like to do and when. We’ll use this to plan for our restart in the next few weeks. Clearly we rely upon The De Montfort School for pitch bookings and on our coaches and volunteers to run the Club but we hope to be back playing soon.

Stay safe everyone and look forward to seeing you soon.

The following update was posted to our Club WhatsApp groups this evening:

“Hi everyone, Firstly hope you’re all well. The Club Committee met tonight to start planning for when we’re allowed to return to hockey 😃🏑👍

However, and as usual, before we can confirm any plans we await guidance from the Government who will confirm to England Hockey what we can do and when.

Nevertheless we suspect you’re keen to get going so next week we’ll send you a survey to see what you’d like to do and when.

We can also confirm that all of our teams league matches have been abandoned and the leagues will restart in Season 21/22.

Stay safe everyone and very much looking forward to seeing you on a pitch soon!”

Back into Lockdown we go. All team sports have been suspended by the Government so we are cancelling all training and matches with immediate effect.

When we’ll be able to restart and what this means for the ability to complete Season 20/21 remains to be seen but we’ll let you know as soon as the situation changes.

Stay safe everyone

 Wednesday 16th Sep 2020

Some exciting news! We’re pleased to confirm that Junior training will restart on Sun 27th Sep and Senior training on Tues 29th Sep.

To be ‘COVID-safe’ we’ve had to make considerable changes to procedures both on and off the pitch. We’ll tell you about these changes, your responsibilities and what you need to do in the coming days.

Your Committee and a number of other volunteers have worked super-hard to create as safe an environment as we can. It’s taken some time but we hope that you appreciate our efforts and we thank you for your patience.

Look forward to seeing you all on the pitch in the next few weeks! 🏑👍😀  More soon…

COVID Update from E&BHC Committee:

Our COVID plans are progressing well and we’re in discussion with The De Montfort School about pitch access. We’re aiming for our first training sessions to be end September or early October.

COVID Update from E&BHC Committee:

Firstly hope you’re all well. After this message we’re going to send you a survey about your willingness as players/parents to restart hockey. Please complete it as soon as you can. We need to know who wants to play.

You may have seen the announcement from England Hockey (https://eng.hockey/2EZbeTz) about moving to Step 4 of their Return to Play plan and being able to restart training and local matches.

This is a positive step but before hockey can resume all clubs are required to implement detailed guidance (see https://eng.hockey/31x27RE).

In summary EBHC must:
– Appoint a COVID officer with overall responsibility for the Club’s COVID policies
– Complete a risk assessment
– Get all players to sign a Participant Agreement before restart
– Establish a Track and Trace programme to notify England Hockey every time someone trains or plays matches
– Change our processes for team sheets, payment, equipment use, training, spectating, umpiring, First Aid and travel.

We also need to seek approval from The De Montfort School to restart and to agree actions around signage for social distancing, pitch access and use of facilities.

At the moment the Committee are coming up with an approach for our Club.

Like you we’re keen to get back to playing as soon as we can but there’s a lot to do and our primary concern is for our players, spectators and volunteers.

The next time you’ll hear from us will with a short survey – please complete this as soon as you can.

After that we’ll give you a clearer idea of what we expect to happen and when.

Any questions are welcome.

 April 20th 2020

Hockey in England is current suspended. Evesham & Badsey Hockey Club will follow the guidance of England Hockey as to when we can restart hockey and the actions that we need to take.

The latest England Hockey news can be found at https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/news.asp?section=22 and their COVID Support pages at http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=2633&sectionTitle=Covid%2D19+Club+Support

Clearly there’s currently much uncertainty as to how the situation unfolds and there will be substantial impacts on the way that both Hockey and our Club is run. We’ll be working to follow the guidelines and to deliver as safe an environment as we can for our players, supporters and volunteers. Keep an eye on the website and social media for our latest news.
