Evesham Hockey Club is committed to the development of younger players and has a thriving youth academy, comprising the Badgers and Juniors.
Badgers – age 12 to 16
‘Badgers’ is an intermediate stage, between junior and senior hockey and focusses on developing match skills. Badgers teams can include up to two adults, whose role is to encourage and coach the younger players during matches.
Badgers’ training this season is on Sunday mornings, from 9.45am to 11.00am. The older, more experienced Badgers are encouraged to train with the seniors (men and ladies) on Tuesday evenings (8.00pm to 9.30pm).
Matches are played on Saturdays.
Annual membership costs £40 with match fees of £5 per match. Training is free for members. Non-members are welcome to join us for training at £3 per session.
Juniors – age 6 to 12
Junior training focuses on basic skills and on enjoyment. It’s super fun with lots of hockey-related, and sometimes not-so-hockey related, games.
Anyone can come along, whether they’ve played hockey before or have never tried it and fancy having a go. We always go the extra mile to make sure that any new juniors are made to feel welcome.
Juniors’ training this season is on Sunday mornings, from 9.00am to 10.15am.
Juniors can either pay an annual subscription of £40, which covers all Sunday morning training, or they can pay £3 at each session they attend.
There are occasional inter-club tournaments throughout the season, usually on Sunday mornings (see below). There is a charge of £3 per child per tournament.
Junior tournaments (for players aged 11 and under) are organised by Bourton & Sherbourne Hockey Club on Sunday mornings, 10.00 – 11.30am at the Cotswold School astro (The Ave, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham GL54 2BD).
The next tournament is on Sunday 2nd December.
